This is a quick page as a record of what happened when a group of regular correspondents on the IAM email forum got together to share some driving experiences. As an IAM member with less experience than most, I found it a interesting and rewarding day. Technology strikes againAlways anxious to be toasting in the white heat of technology, I thought it would be a good idea to fix a webcam in front of the driver to record the drive. I have long pondered the possibility of attaching a camera to the bike to play back to an associate later, but my antique video camera (full VHS size) is far too big, and I was not going to risk an expensive digital video for nothing. I already have a fastish laptop (1.2 GHz Celeron 256 Mb RAM), and if the webcam cost me almost all of £20 at PC World it was not going to be too much of a disaster. Below are some snippets from one of my drives. These are all in .avi format, and, unfortunately are rather long downloads. I leave it to you to decide whether it was a worthwhile exercise. Click on the picture or text to start the download.
The raw file of the entire drive is 60-odd megabytes, which I can supply on a CD. Photos are now available on the next page. Email: reply@peterharris.org.uk
